The Most Effective Cancer Prevention

We all know that lifestyle makes a difference and the better we treat our bodies, the healthier we are. Cancer, being the the most common disease, is surely the effect of our unhealthy lifestyles. This means that 78,000 Britons develop cancer because of their inappropriate diets and sedentary lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle still becomes the most effective cancer prevention method.

All they could do is to drink less alcohol and exercise more, a proper diet is another must. The World Cancer Research Fund performed a survey on four countries, such as USA, Brazil, China and Britain. Britons ranked the bottom line of people who suffer from preventable cancers which had not been prevented with weight control, sedentary lifestyle or healthy and reasonable diet.

For instance, bowel cancer could be reduced by 43% if people began eating less red and processed meat. Reduced alcohol consumption could reduce breast cancer by about 42 percent. The amount of mouth, pharynx and larynx cancer could be reduced by 67 percent if we ate more vegetables and fruit and cut down on alcohol. An increased consumption of fruit and vegetables as well as avoidance of alcohol could cut cancer of esophagus by 75 percent. The figures mentioned above does not include smoking which is the main cause of one third of cancers.

The researchers believe people are unable to take responsibility for their health. It is expected to get even worse with aging population and obesity rates getting higher every day. Unfortunately, people still don’t exercise often enough nor limit the amount of highly-processed food they eat.
